Ph.D. Student Receives Multiple Awards to Support Research

Congratulations to Ph.D. candidate Alice Malmberg who has received multiple awards to support her current research project examining whether Americans engage in geographic sorting in response to state-level culture-war policies, including a grant from the Institute for Humane Studies and exclusive survey access from the Civic Health and Institutions Project (CHIP50). In September she will also be attending Cornell's Thought Summit on the Future of Survey Science as one of five graduate students funded to attend. And if that wasn't enough, she has also been named an Early Career Fellow for the Elections, Public Opinion, and Voting Behavior Section of the American Political Science Association.

Political Science Undergraduates Share Policy Research in Sacramento

Undergraduates in political science and other majors at UC Davis shared their research on pressing California policy issues in a fast-paced poster session at the UC Center Sacramento’s Undergraduate Research Showcase. The showcase included students from all nine University of California campuses who have spent the summer at UC Center Sacramento. 

Prof. Adams promoted to Distinguished Professor

Ph.D. Student Wins Prestigious Dissertation Award

Congratulations to PhD candidate Rana McReynolds who will receive a Ruth B. Mandel Dissertation Research Award from the Center for American Women and Politics to support "the next generation of gender and politics researchers to yield progress for women in U.S. politics."

Grad Students Publish Paper with Institute for Replication

Graduate Students Alice Malmberg and Daniel Scates have published a paper with the Institute for Replication on "Flight to Safety: COVID-Induced Changes in the Intensity of Status Quo Preference and Voting Behavior: A Comment on Bisbee and Honig."  You can read it here.  

Faculty Research Productivity is #6 Nationally!

On a per-person basis, our faculty has been the 6th most productive nationally and the top UC Political Science department according to this study in the journal PS: Political Science and Politics.
