Bio
My research investigates why affective polarization is inherent within democratic systems and how it could undermine citizens’ support for democratic principles. In my dissertation, I explore how individuals’ partisan identities are activated during campaigns, whether increased affective polarization is driven more by in-party favoritism or out-party animosity, and how election outcomes further impact their support for democratic principles through the channel of affective polarization.
