Bio

I am a political scientist with a passion for teaching students how the political process shapes their world. As the child of parents who immigrated from Lebanon to escape the Lebanese Civil War and seek better economic opportunities, I was drawn to political science out of a desire to understand how to build institutions that promote stability, foster economic growth, and protect minority rights.

I began pursuing a Ph.D. after realizing that undergraduate instruction and mentorship were my true calling while teaching transfer students full-time at UC San Diego (UCSD). During my time there, I taught extensively in Global Studies and the humanities, serving as a full-time Teaching Assistant (TA) in the Making of the Modern World Writing Program and as a Lecturer with UCSD's School of Global Policy and Strategy, where I prepared incoming master’s students to write at the graduate level.

I am trained as a comparativist and political theorist, with a strong interest in both empirical political science and the ideas that shape our societies. My research compares the political economy of labor across countries, including the United States.

Today, I primarily teach introductory political science courses with a global perspective as an Associate Instructor at UC Davis and American River College. I am committed to helping students build confidence in their ability to write research papers and use statistical methods, such as regression analysis. I am particularly passionate about empowering students from underrepresented groups to believe in themselves and overcome structural barriers through inclusive teaching methods.
