Before joining the UC Davis Department of Political Science in 2005, James Adams was an assistant and then associate professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He studies parties, elections, and public opinion. His work analyzes parties' election strategies along with the levels, causes, and consequences of cross-party hostility and distrust in western publics, including the United States.  Here is a copy of his curriculum vitae.
